SPSC COMPUTER GROUP SCHEDULE FOR 2010/2011 – FOR CLUB MEMBERS ONLY

COURSES ARE HELD IN THE BOARDROOM.
A COMPUTER COURSE APPLICATION FORM IS REQUIRED
 (on the rack or ask at the front desk).
Once completed, put it in the slot just outside the club’s front entrance.
The computer group Administrator will contact you.

Please note:- Attendance at workshops is prescheduled. 
MONDAYS: WORKSHOPS – 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. MIKE O'NEILL - INSTRUCTOR

TUESDAYS: COMPUTER BASICS - 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. BARRY JOHNSON – INSTRUCTOR.  

 

n         This course is held once a week for (4) weeks. It's for the ABSOLUTE BEGINNER. This is a User Friendly Course ... you learn how to use the keyboard's basic functions and the 'mouse'. This enables you to easily move around the keyboard and computer. Once you have these basics and some basic word processing you can proceed with the other courses that we offer. It's a fun challenge.

n         FUN STUFF  – A prerequisite for the following courses is the BASIC COURSE.
 

n         GRAPHICS:  (3 weeks) You learn to draw and colour letters and images from the 'Windows "Paint" Program.' It includes the integration of cartoons, photos and various images from other sources. 
 

n         PRINT SHOP: (2 weeks) This program enables Students to make Greeting Cards, posters and many other useful elements. This course although basic, enables Students interested  in this field to purchase a more enhanced program for their own needs.

WEDNESDAYS & THURS. –  1:00- 3:00 p.m. DOUG GOULEY – INSTRUCTOR.

n         MICROSOFT – WORDPAD  

n         Doug will expand on the features and capabilities of Word Pad which is the free word processor provided by windows.

n         WORD Microsoft Word. 4 or 5 week course, held Wednesdays and Thursdays consecutively.
A total of (9) class sessions. The last class (9) is Questions and Answers if required.
 

n         This great course covers most areas of the computer and the keyboard commands for any form of writing. This includes saving a document, filing a document, spell check and grammar, page numbering and 'short cuts' all of which are very interesting and rewarding. This class you can't miss.

            Thursdays: E-MAIL 9:30am - 11:15a.m. MIKE O’NEILL – INSTRUCTOR  

Learn how to Send/Receive E-mail, deal with attachments and pictures, and use your Address Book or Contact List. Three options offered: (1) Outlook Express. (2) Rogers and Sympatico web-site-mail. 
(3) Email/Internet Questions and Answers.
Pre-requisite is Basic computer knowledge plus an e-mail ID. Outlook Express requires 2 weeks,
others are one week. Courses will be scheduled based on demand. .
